Two UNLV players awarded West Region softball honors

UNLV shortstop Racheal Goodpaster was named to the first team All-West Region and Rebels outfielder Erica Vollweiler garnered second team honors, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday.

Goodpaster led UNLV this season in home runs (14), batting average (.371), doubles (16) and RBIs (34) in 49 games. After just one home run as a freshman, Goodpaster finished her second year just one shy of the school record of 15 homers.

Vollweiler transferred from Fresno City Junior College this season and made an immediate impact with the Rebels. She was second only to Goodpaster in batting average (.340).

Goodpaster and Vollweiler will be considered for All-America honors. The voting will take place on Monday.
