Using The Shade Tree women's shelter as a backdrop, mayoral candidate Arnie Adamsen held a press conference Thursday to tout his stance on women's issues.
"In terms of what the mayor stands for, it's helping people, standing up for the victims and protecting citizens," Adamsen said after three victim's advocates and his wife, Pat, all gave brief statements of support.
Adamsen, who has served on the board of The Shade Tree for five years, also helped start the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) in Las Vegas -- a network of volunteers who assist victims of violence immediately after the trauma occurred.
