Letter: Courteous driving thing of the past

Are the speed limits on Boulder Highway, Nellis Boulevard and East Charleston more like 65 instead of the posted 45?
I just don't understand; when I have to go somewhere, I'm always glad to get home alive!
Do we need more taxes to put more patrolmen out, or what?
Sure, our population is ballooning, but there are plenty of ways to get somewhere without everyone using the same major streets and driving crazy because of the congestion.
Now that there are more school zones using the reduced-speed-when-flashing signs, a lot more streets are feasible routes; I use them for peace of mind.
The expressway? Forget it -- 75 or 80 mph is commonplace, way too much for the congestion.
Changing lanes without using turn signals is also commonplace, and just to gain one more car length.
