Sunset Station robber sought
The Sunset Station hotel-casino is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man who robbed a slot cashier on Sunday.
Just after 5 a.m. Sunday police received a report that a man entered the casino, pepper-sprayed an employee and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
The man is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall and heavy set. Surveillance tapes show the man leaving the scene in a dark sport-utility vehicle, Henderson Police said.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Henderson Police at 565-8933 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
NLV officer loses his job
A North Las Vegas police officer charged with sexual harassment has been fired.
City Manager Pat Importuna said John Armstrong is no longer employed by the city. Importuna refused to give any details surrounding why the officer was fired, saying only that it is an internal, personnel matter.
District Judge Gary Redmon in March dismissed a lawsuit filed by Armstrong asking for a preliminary injunction against the city to prevent officials from investigating sexual harassment charges against him.
In February Redmond denied the officer's request for a temporary restraining order against the city.
Armstrong was relieved of duty on Nov. 12, 1998, following a sexual harassment claim by a fellow officer. He has said the restraining order would have prevented the city from investigating the charges against him.
GOP fined for missing deadlines
Nevada's Republican Party has agreed to pay the Federal Election Commission a $50,000 civil fine for late reporting of its finances throughout much of 1995 and 1996.
The FEC also announced a $20,000 fine for a Las Vegas business and its owner who made illegal corporate contributions to Bob Dole's presidential campaign four years ago.
A federal judge earlier fined Raymon Desage and his Cadeau Express Inc. $175,000 and sentenced him to probation for the same offense -- reimbursing employees who agreed to contribute to Dole.
