Suit filed to block Walgreens sign

A tenant at a strip mall on Las Vegas Boulevard South is suing to block construction of a sign at a Walgreens drug store.
Sahara Land Inc. filed suit in District Court against the owners of the Metz Plaza at 3763-65 Las Vegas Blvd. South over the proposed construction of the sign. The mall is near the MGM Grand hotel-casino.
CAP/TOR LLC, the limited liability company that owns Metz Plaza, has received approval for a 14-by-48-foot sign atop a billboard 65 feet high.
Sahara Land contends that the lease prohibits buildings or structures that would interfere with existing signs at the shopping center.
"While the party filing this action is a valued tenant, we believe the issues raised do not merit legal action," a spokesman for CAP/TOR said in a prepared statement.
