A small Las Vegas engineering firm has been acquired by a San Diego company aiming to expand across the United States.

Publicly traded U.S. Laboratories Inc. bought Buena Engineers Inc., 3021 S. Valley View Blvd. Terms were not announced.

Buena, which has 15 engineers and technicians who do field inspections, serves as a consultant to the development industry throughout the construction process. A spokeswoman said the staff is hired to conduct geotechnical and environmental tests, soil evaluations and building code compliance on construction materials.

U.S. Labs, which has five wholly owned subsidiaries in the Northeast, Southeast and Southwest with the acquisition of Buena, is considering buying more companies to continue expansion.
