Letters: Don’t blame death of Perrin on cops
Tuesday, May 18, 1999 | 3:07 a.m.
Mrs. Perrin is looking to hold Officer Genter responsible for the death of her son, when she really needs to look no further than herself. It is not Metro Police that caused Mr. Perrin to smoke marijuana or become addicted to methamphetamine. The police did not create the attitude of blatant disregard of orders given by them.
There comes a time when we as parents must accept the irresponsible actions of our children and become responsible for the consequences. I go to sleep at night feeling safe knowing that Metro Police are keeping watch over my family and neighborhood. The last thing I want running around my house at 11:30 p.m. are drug dealers. To think that the Perrin family could profit in court for the illegal actions of their son is truly an atrocity.
