LV airport traffic up in April

McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas said it served 2.8 million people in April, up 8.9 percent from 2.57 million people served in April 1998.
The McCarran numbers include both arriving and departing passengers.
Southwest Airlines, the busiest carrier at McCarran, carried more than 760,000 passengers, up 11.5 percent. America West reported 429,000 passengers, which was virtually unchanged from a year ago. United Airlines was up 4.4 percent to nearly 288,000 people, Delta Air Lines was up 8.3 percent to nearly 237,000 people and Reno Air was up 7.1 percent to nearly 136,000.
A wave of resort openings is boosting visitation to Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said visitor volume in March was 2.9 million people, up 11.3 percent from March 1998.
