Rebels’ Malec on All-WAC tennis team

UNLV junior Katarina Malec has been named to the 1999 All-Western Athletic Conference women's tennis squad determined through a vote by league head coaches. She missed much of the season because of injury but returned late in the year to lead the Rebels to six wins in their last seven matches.

The native of Warsaw, Poland, transferred to UNLV this season after a stellar career at College of the Desert. This spring, she finished with an overall record of 7-5. Malec won five of her last six matches as 75th-ranked UNLV won the consolation-draw championship at last week's WAC tournament.
