One killed, three injured in accident
Tuesday, May 4, 1999 | 3:11 a.m.
Three people were ejected when the van driven by Jesus Perez, 26, King City, Calif., lost traction and overturned on Monday.
The vehicle apparently was traveling too fast for the poor weather conditions, the patrol said.
Perez' mother-in-law, Rachel Ortiz, 64, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
His wife and 6-year-old son also were ejected. The boy was treated and released at Elko General Hospital, as was Perez and his sister-in-law, Rose-Marie Sahagum.
Lori-Ann Perez remains hospitalized. The accident was under investigation.
