Nearly 200,000 call about jobs at Paris

Monday, May 3, 1999 | 2:41 a.m.

The $760 million hotel-casino plans to hire 4,200 people.

During the first 24 hours of the marathon recruiting program on April 5-6, about 92,000 calls were received from applicants wishing to schedule a job interview, hotel officials said Monday.

More than 1,000 applicants were interviewed during the marathon and 7,000 more were interviewed during the past few weeks.

"Even with this tremendous response, there are still thousands of good jobs available, and the employment center will be open six days a week until we open on Sept. 1," said Darren Oliver, vice president of human resources.

The employment center is closed on Sunday.
