Weekend shooting kills one

The names of the victim and suspect were withheld.

Police Sgt. Ken Hefner said the victim called police Saturday night from a store at D Street and Jackson Avenue, and reported he was pistol-whipped during an argument.

As police responded to the scene, the victim was shot to death in a nearby alley, Hefner said.

The suspect was later arrested at a Paul Street residence. Details on the charges facing the suspect were not immediately released.

"It appears the victim and suspect knew one another and were involved in some type of ongoing dispute, possibly over a woman," Hefner said.
