Letter: Condemnation of fluoridation not based on facts

Monday, March 29, 1999 | 12:40 p.m.

It obviously has no connection with journalism, since anyone who even periodically reads a newspaper must realize it is not their practice to list scientific references in either editorials or articles.

It must also not be in the health care area since any familiarity with the professional journals in medicine or dentistry would yield a realization that there are numerous scientifically controlled studies showing the significant benefits of fluoride and none showing harm.

Logic is also a field obviously not related to Mr. Hall's degree, since the demand for studies showing that there is no harm is frequently listed in logic textbooks as an example of a logical fallacy.

My master's degrees are in biology and nursing. After reading Mr. Hall's letter it is quite obvious that he is poorly qualified to speak on the subject.
