Four doctors lose licenses

Four physicians have lost their licenses, the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners reported this month.

Dr. Allen I. Franco of Las Vegas surrendered his license and was ordered to pay $5,688 after he was charged with practicing with unreasonable skill and safety due to an illness, using alcohol and drugs and writing a prescription for a controlled substance without an appropriate examination.

Dr. Robert S. Chancellor of Las Vegas had his licensed revoked for rendering services to a patient while under the influence of alcohol and endangering the health and welfare of a patient.

Dr. James G. Cavanagh of Hawthorne had his licensed revoked after being charged with 27 counts of writing prescriptions for controlled substances in excessive amounts and failure to exercise skill or diligence.

Dr. L. Dean Gibson of Winnemucca surrendered his license following allegations that he had committed malpractice.
