Former county clerk fined

East Fork Justice of the Peace Jim EnEarl handed down the sentence last week to Diana Daley, 48, who pleaded no contest March 18 to a misdemeanor charge stemming from the theft of more than $1,400 from the court.

Daley, who joined the clerk's office in 1986, said she took the money between January 1997 and last June because she was facing marital and financial problems. She has since repaid the money.

In addition to restitution, Daley was ordered to pay $500 to the county to cover the costs of the investigation.

Earlier this month, former East Fork Justice Court Clerk Mary Theresa Fry was sentenced to probation for the felony theft of $17,700 from the court. She also repaid the money.
