Seniors may be eligible for rental rebates

Seniors who have lived in Nevada for at least six months and are 62 years or older with an annual household income of $21,844 or less may be eligible for rental rebates.

The program, available through the Clark County assessor's office, is open to all qualified seniors and includes homeowners, renters or those who live in a mobile home.

Applicants can receive rebates between $5 and $500 depending on their income, taxes and outgoing expenses.

All applications must be received by April 30. Last year the office received 8,000 applications. This year they have received 6,000 applications so far.

The assessor's office also offers tax assistance or exemptions to widows' veterans, disabled veterans and the blind.
