Letter: CCSN enrollment should be praised
Thursday, March 25, 1999 | 11:56 a.m.
Instead of a celebration for the increase in enrollment, we have political leaders who condemn this wonderful accomplishment. Certainly the increase poses challenges, but these challenges should be relished and approached with enthusiasm. An educated population serves everyone.
I find it distressing that an elected official such as state Sen. Bob Coffin would even suggest that we couldn't afford to educate some students. I wonder if Coffin would turn away his children or his neighbors' children from an education. Which students will Coffin turn away?
The enrollment increase at CCSN is something to be celebrated. Moore is an example of what can be done with hard work, attention to detail and creativity. Our leaders can learn much from his enrollment accomplishment. It's time for all of our leaders to focus on solutions and what we can do.
