Michael Edward Alter, 85, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local health care center. He was born Oct. 20, 1913, in Ransburg, Calif. A resident for more than 60 years, he was a retired mining foreman and a member of the Operating Engineers Union.

He is survived by two sons, Jack Alter of Baldwin Park, Calif., and William Alter of San Francisco; one daughter, Kathleen Gangwish of Las Vegas; three sisters, Evelyn Singleton of Arizona and Phyllis Glascock and Pat Schooley, both of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. Thursday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Harold L. Amig

Harold L. Amig, 79, of Henderson died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Pennsylvania. A resident for five years, he was a retired freezer equipment consultant, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a charter exalted ruler of the Minden Douglas Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia M.; three daughters, Marylee Crowl of Elysburg, Pa., Josephine Ruoss of Manheim, Pa., and Virginia Kessler of Pennsylvania; two sons, William Amig and Terry Amig, both of Elizabethtown, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

James Michael Briscoe

James Michael Briscoe, 50, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 30, 1948, in Illinois. A resident for six months, he was a hospital laboratory biochemist.

He is survived by his father, James H. Briscoe of Chicago.

Burial will be in Chicago. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Sammy D. Clark

Sammy D. Clark, 68, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born Feb. 4, 1931, in Malad City, Idaho. A resident for 48 years, he was a retired teacher for the Clark County School District, owner-operator of a local grocery and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Thelma Slaughter and Lynita Nelson, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, F. Dean Clark of Ogden, Utah, W. Donald Clark of Roy, Utah, and Kirk L. Bloxham of Florence, Mont.; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will be private.

Vivian Cosman

Vivian Cosman, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born April 28, 1916. She was a resident for many years.

Burial will be 9 a.m. April 2 in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Leonora Dell

Leonora Dell, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Philadelphia. A resident for four years, she was a retired artist.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; one daughter, Diana Mazzagatti of Los Gatos, Calif.

Visitation is private. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Robert Orange Dickinson

Robert Orange Dickinson, 82, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. A resident for 49 years, he was a custodian for the Clark County School District, a member of the Boy Scouts of America and the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Amy; two sons, Rodney Dickinson of Henderson and Lee Dickinson of New Harmony, Utah; four sisters, Grace McCallister of Albuquerque, N.M., Mary Calcara of Carlsbad, Calif., Betty Brown of Panguitch, Utah, and Leila Stoker of Henderson; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Cholla Street LDS Chapel. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Albina C. Dunn

Albina C. Dunn, 73, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Newark, N.J. A resident for one year, she was a retired hair salon owner-operator.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth L. Dunn of Tuckerton, N.J.; two daughters, Kathleen Whitley and Deborah DeMartino, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Philomena Miceli of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Josephine Telesco of North Arlington, N.J.; two brothers, Anthony Cuzzi of Newark, N.J., and Dominic Cuzzi of Paramus, N.J.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave.

Solomon Feldman

Solomon Feldman, 76, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born June 27, 1922, in New Jersey. A resident for 45 years, he was a casino corporate security officer.

He is survived by three sons, Dr. Howard Feldman and Barry Allen, both of California, and Bob Reinherz of Las Vegas; one daughter, Myra Jane Reinherz of Las Vegas; two sisters, Francis Weinbaum of California and Zeffi Petracca of Italy; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Pauline Avila Gomez

Pauline Avila Gomez, 61, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born June 22, 1937, in Zacatecas, Mexico. A resident for 40 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, Jesse Avila of Grand Canyon, Ariz., and Carlos Avila, Charles Galauska and Rodolfo Avila, all of Las Vegas; one daughter, Norma Galauska of Mexico City; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Main.

Michael Lee Gruber

Michael Lee Gruber, 42, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 14, 1956, in Norfolk, Neb. A resident for four years, he was a government maintenance instructor and Vietnam War and Desert Storm Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela; two sons, Christopher Gruber and Steven Gruber, both of Las Vegas; his parents, Toby and George Gruber of LaVista, Neb.; two sisters Suzanne Hurt of LaVista and Nanette Schulte of Omaha, Neb.; and one brother, Randall Gruber of Las Vista.

Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. services Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5485 E. Charleston Blvd. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Joseph H. Hardy

Joseph H. Hardy, 54, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 10, 1944, in Groton, Mass. A resident for eight years, he was a marriage counselor and an ordained minister with Old Church Ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria; two daughters, Ruthann Gauthier of Lowell, Mass., and Heather Hardy of Henderson; one son, Joseph Hardy II of Henderson; his mother, Mae Conklin of Lancaster, Mass.; three sisters, Anita Bezdegian of Worcester, Mass., Melvina Hutchins of Leominster, Mass., and Pamela Lund of Pepperell, Mass.; five brothers, John F. Hardy, Robert R. Hardy and Steven Hardy, all of Pepperell, and Anthony Conklin and Hollis Conklin, both of Lancaster; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Central Christian Church, 3415 S. Mojave Road.

Jack A. Kogan

Jack A. Kogan, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local speciality hospital. He was born June 18, 1918, in Philadelphia. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired TV and radio personality, owner of J.I. and K. Co., and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one sister, Esther Frailer of Wynnewood, Pa.

A radio show in his memory will be broadcast at 5 p.m. today on KLAV 1230-AM. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Mary Ann Ludwig

Mary Ann Ludwig, 91, of Henderson died Thursday in a local health care center. She was born Oct. 6, 1907, in North Leith, Scotland. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker, a volunteer at Henderson Senior Center and Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by four sisters, Hilda Strudley, Joan Comerford, Ena Edsall and Violet Windebank, all of England; and one grandchild.

Walter O. Mehner

Walter O. Mehner, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born Dec. 18, 1925, in Dallas, S.D. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired accountant for a public utility, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Glee; one daughter, Janet Whitesel-Keeton of Blue Springs, Mo.; one son, Timothy Mehner of Waverly, Kan.; three sisters, Dorothea Wickstom of Longview, Wash., Irene Thompson of Sun City, Ariz., and Ruth Sieler of Longview; three brothers, Raymond Mehner of Sioux City, Iowa, Daniel Mehner of Davenport, Iowa, and Edwin Mehner of Denver; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday in The Lakes Lutheran Church, 8200 W. Sahara Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Robert H. Northway Sr.

Robert H. Northway Sr., 65, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local speciality hospital. He was born Feb. 25, 1934, in San Antonio. A resident for 28 years, he was a Clark County School District bus driver and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; one son, Tim Northway of North Las Vegas; three daughters, Wendy Cardenas, Amy Prens and Jan Calvert, all of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Charline Johnson of Texas and Phyllis Goelzenleuchter of Louisiana.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. until a 5:30 p.m. rosary today at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. A liturgy service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Christ the King. Burial will be in San Antonio.

Douglas F. Phillips Jr.

Douglas F. Phillips Jr., 59, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 23, 1939, in Los Angeles. A resident for six years, he worked for Desert Plumbing for four years, Scott Mechanical for two years, worked as a plumbing design engineer where he contributed to projects at the MGM, Monte Carlo and Mandalay Bay hotel-casinos, the Anaheim Stadium in California, was a Navy veteran and a member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers.

He is survived by his life partner, Lori Beckham of Las Vegas; one son, Steve Phillips of Henderson; one daughter, Teresa Barros of Monrovia, Calif.; his parents, Douglas and Lorraine Phillips of Lucerne Valley, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Entombment will be in California.

Neitha Jean Magee Pittman

Neitha Jean Magee Pittman, 45, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 19, 1953, in McComb, Miss. A resident for 20 years, she owned Nita's Alzheimer's Group Home.

She is survived by two daughters, Tana Marie Magee and Elonda Enise Black, and one son, Ge'Angelo Adams, all of Las Vegas; her parents, Jeremiah and Marguerite Pittman of McComb; four sisters, Joyce Thomas, Gwendolyn G. Kenney and Marchetta E. Brown, all of McComb, and Edna Pittman of Las Vegas; three brothers, Dleash Pittman, Alvin Burks and Donald Burks of McComb; seven aunts including a special aunt, Emma Jean; 12 uncles; and her grandparents, Andrew and Goleana Varnado; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Calvary Southern Baptist Church, 1600 E. Cartier Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Jack Rathburn

Jack Rathburn, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born May 20, 1919, in Harrah, Wash. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired casino slot manager, a World War II Coast Guard veteran and a lifetime member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his companion, Nelda Jean Drysdale of Las Vegas; two sons, Jack Rathburn of Sugar Land, Texas, and Larry Rathburn of Las Vegas; one sister, Margaret Hughes of Merced, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Jason Aaron Reid, 19, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born July 2, 1979, in Santa Barbara, Calif. A resident for seven years, he was a plumber for three years.

He is survived by his father, Richard Reid of Las Vegas; his mother, Rita Reid of Laguna Hills, Calif.; and two brothers, John Reid of Laguna Hills and Jacob Reid of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 2-4 p.m. Wednesday in Paradise Memorial Gardens. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Jacque L. Robison

Jacque L. Robison, 76, of Henderson died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Santa Monica, Calif. A resident for 37 years, she was a retired waitress and a member of Beta Sigma Phi.

She is survived by her husband, Wilford; three daughters, Charlene L. Wilson of Omaha, Neb., Robin R. Boatsman of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Janice L. Cuiffi of Henderson; one son, Gary Pratt of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Antoinette Mary Spiewak

Antoinette Mary Spiewak, 82, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A resident for 18 years, she was born July 23, 1916, in Chicago.

She is survived by one son, George F. Spiewak of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Grace H. Stone

Grace H. Stone, 94, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 13, 1905, in Sioux City, Iowa. A resident for 12 years, she was a former member of the Girls of 68 in Sioux City.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Paulsen of California and Theresa Bell of Las Vegas; two sons, Jerry Stone and Dr. Gordon Stone, both of Colorado; one brother, Lawrence Huerth of North Carolina; one sister, Margaret; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be in Sioux City.

Mary Weinberg

Mary Weinberg, 89, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 11, 1909, in New York City. A resident for four years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Gary Weinberg of West Bloomfield, Mich.; one daughter, Geraldine Katzman of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services and burial will be in Southfield, Mich. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Allen Wolfe

Allen Wolfe, 70, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born June 18, 1928, in Boston. A resident for two years, he worked in retail and was an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Harriett; two sons, Michael and William; and one daughter, Ilene Levy.

Graveside services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled arrangements.

Wendy Lenore Yelinek

Wendy Lenore Yelinek, 35, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 22, 1963, in Las Vegas. A resident for 35 years, she was a baccarat dealer.

She is survived by her father, Robert Joseph Yelinek, her mother and stepfather, Phyllis Joyce and Philip Norton, and one brother, Larry Joseph Yelinek, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Toni Hyatt of Boise, Idaho, and Julie Calico of St. George, Utah; and her grandmother, Dorothy Anne Yelinek of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Wednesday in the LDS Eighth Ward Chapel at 4500 Pennwood Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
