Man sentenced for fraudulent returns

An Iowa man who prepared fraudulent tax returns in many states, including Nevada, was sentenced to 27 months in prison on Monday.
August Jeffery Gutierrez, 34, pleaded guilty on Aug. 8, 1998, to one count of conspiracy and five counts of aiding in the preparation of fraudulent tax returns.
Gutierrez had been involved in preparing hundreds of fraudulent tax returns for taxpayers in California and Nevada starting in 1990, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
