Grant to offset cost of upgrades
Tuesday, March 23, 1999 | 11:38 a.m.
Clark County Aviation Director Randy Walker said the grant would be applied toward a $60 million program to replace underground fuel lines and a tarmac at the A, B and C concourses at the airport. Walker said the ramps are beginning to age and show wear. The project will be undertaken later this year.
The federal funds, part of the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Fund, generated by passenger facility charges on all plane tickets, will also provide a $3.1 million grant to build runways and taxiways at Henderson Executive Airport.
The rest of the grant money will go to airports in Reno, Carson City and Elko.
