Clark County to collect $6 million more than it spends

Tuesday, March 23, 1999 | 10:09 a.m.

The first look at fiscal 2000, which starts in July, shows an operating budget of $631 million, up 6.5 percent from the latest estimates on spending for the current fiscal year.

Clark County commissioners are to receive the tentative budget Thursday.

County Finance Director George Stevens plans to tell the commission to expect a 12 percent increase in sales tax revenue over the figure budgeted for the current fiscal year. The county also expects a 15.2 percent property tax revenue increase, despite a stable tax rate, reflecting increased assessed valuation.
