Letter: Psychologist should not have been hired

It was a very complete article with information about all the problems it was going to cause with the persons who had been sentenced based on the diagnosis by this particular doctor.
What the article failed to address was who was responsible for this oversight and what was being done to that person.
How can someone hire for a particular job without researching the persons credentials and qualifications, including any licenses that may be required.
This seems to me to be another case of the public having to pay for the ineptitude of a public official who fails to preform their job properly.
In private industry these oversights affect the bottom line and mistakes like this are dealt with quickly and effectively.
It will be interesting to see if there is further backlash from this grievous error, either from the standpoint of the convicted or the person responsible for the mistake.
It will also be interesting to see if the doctor in question is still being paid, even though he was unlicensed for work in this state.
