Letter: Yugoslavia column scores bull’s-eye

I want to thank Mike O'Callaghan for his column, "Secretary of Bombing," which I am confident expresses the concern of all true Serbs -- especially those who continue to maintain close ties in Yugoslavia or are proud of their heritage.
Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's obvious aim to rid the world of that little country is unthinkable. The people of Yugoslavia were actually unknown to most of the United States until the American fliers, who were rescued by the Serbs, returned to the United States after World War II and expressed their gratitude by erecting a monument in Washington, D.C., in honor of those "mountain people."
Many Serbs still call the mountains their home and have done so for generations. If the young elected to move into the cities for employment or education, they continued to retain their family mountain homes, sans any of the sanitary facilities available to them in the cities, and spend "vacation" times allotted them in the summer.
They are happy and loving and grateful for less than nothing. They suffered from the unbearable disease of "communism" and now are endowed with a self-serving madame secretary, who, when questioned about her heritage, could not answer.
Truly, therefore, how can she be expected to act in a rational manner toward those God-loving people who are fighting so diligently to retain their homeland?
