McCarran said this is the fifth consecutive month of higher year-to-year traffic, which is good news for the expanding hotel-casino industry in Las Vegas.
For the first two months of 1999, McCarran served 5 million passengers, up 8.3 percent from the prior-year period.
McCarran said the largest carrier at McCarran, Southwest Airlines, served 692,000 people in February -- up 9.6 percent from February 1998.
The No. 2 airline, America West, served about 361,000 people, down 3 percent. United had 270,000 passengers, up 12.4 percent; Delta reported 207,000 passengers, up 8.2 percent; and Reno Air was down 15.9 percent with 121,000 passengers.
