Colorado beats Nevada in salary report

Thursday, March 18, 1999 | 12:12 p.m.

Arizona and Nevada were tied for No. 2 in personal income growth with increases of 7.2 percent apiece.

Arizona and Nevada have had higher job and population growth than Colorado, economists at Arizona State University say.

But Colorado's higher salaries helped that state lead the West in total personal income growth, ASU said in its Blue Chip Economic Forecast.

Nevada's personal income of $48 billion in 1998 is projected by economists to grow 8.1 percent this year, ASU said.

A consensus forecast of economists covering Nevada, compiled for the Blue Chip forecast, predicts gross gaming revenue growth in 1999 of 5.6 percent compared to 1998. The economists predict employment growth of 5.2 percent, population growth of 4.8 percent and growth in single family housing permits of 1.3 percent.
