Obituaries for March 17, 1999

Janice Lee Alderete, 59, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born April 14, 1939, in Idaho. A resident for many years, she was an elementary school teacher.

She is survived by her husband, George; two sons, Darrin Densley of Las Vegas and Randal Densley of San Diego; one daughter, Allison Williams, and her parents, Robert and Alice Lee, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Linda Nelson of Las Vegas and Barbara Smith of Woodlawn, Wash.; two brothers, Tom Lee of Las Vegas and Steve Lee of Henderson; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 1 p.m. services Thursday in Hollywood and Stewart LDS Chapel. Burial will be in Utah.

Lynn V. Baker

Lynn V. Baker, 77, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospice. He was born July 22, 1921, in Oklahoma. A resident for 47 years, he was a retired disposal company mechanic and a World War II and Korean War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Betty J.; one son, Wade Baker of Henderson; one daughter, Lynn Zincola of Enola, Pa.; two sisters, Naomi Cushenberry of Arkansas City, Kan., and Carleen Bourcher of El Reno, Okla.; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

John T. ColemanJohn T. Coleman, 82, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Philadelphia. A resident for one year, he was a retired firefighter, a member of Knights of Columbus and the International Association of Firefighters.

He is survived by four daughters, Margaret Broglia and Clare Liguori, both of Henderson, and Joann Vetitto and Mary Ellen Browne, both of Philadelphia; one son, Jack Coleman of Reading, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was scheduled at 3 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Kenneth Calvin Cox

Kenneth Calvin Cox, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Indiana. A resident for six months, he was an aircraft machinist and a Marine Corps staff sergeant.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Marsh Cox; and one daughter, Vicki Cox of Indiana.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Indiana. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Dennis C. Day

Dennis C. Day, 72, of Pahrump died Friday in a local hospital. He was born July 28, 1926, in Mobile, Ala. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired engineering coordinator for EG&G, a World War II and Korean War Army veteran and member of the 88th Infantry Division Association.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his mother, Ruth Day of Mobile; two daughters, Stacey Day of Las Vegas and Kathleen Yardley of Henderson; one sister, Jean Goodwin of Mobile; and one grandchild.

Graveside services will be noon Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Suzanne Lee DoyleSuzanne Lee Doyle, 49, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospice. She was born July 6, 1949, in Staples, Minn. A resident for four years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick; two daughters, Cailin Doyle and Patricia Doyle, and one son, Ryan Doyle, all of Henderson; her parents, Dene and Leo Fahnlander of Staples; one brother, Peter Fahnlander of Minneapolis; two sisters, Shirley Dene Carlson of Baxter, Minn., and Mary Carol Fahnlander of Emerado, N.D.

Services were scheduled noon today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Marcell Ernst

Marcell Ernst, 82, of Boulder City died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 16, 1916, in Minnesota. A resident for four years, he was an oil company agent and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; three daughters, John Ernst and Steven Ernst, both of California, and William Ernst of Minnesota; one daughter, Marcia Hansen, and one brother, Richard Ernst, both of Minnesota; one sister, Rita Stevens of Arkansas; and six grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Minnesota. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Lillie FranklinLillie Franklin, 78, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Fordyce, Ark. A resident for 40 years, she was a retired housekeeper in private homes and a former member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Hurst of Las Vegas; one sister, Armaleen Martin, and two brothers, Dwight Ross and Randy Ross, all of Fordyce; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Greater New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Terrance R. Jones

Terrance R. Jones, 53, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 24, 1945, in England. A resident for nine years, he was a furniture refinisher and a member of Painters Local 154.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; one son, Kevin Jones; one daughter, Deborah Finster; his mother, Edna Small; two brothers, Malcolm Jones and Barry Jones; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-6 p.m. Thursday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Sarah McKinzie

Sarah McKinzie, 44, of Las Vegas died March 10 in a local hospital. She was born July 22, 1954, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 35 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one stepson, Terrance Weathers, her mother, Dorothy McKinzie, three sisters, Barbara, Clara and Sheila McKinzie, and two brothers, Dwight and Curtis McKinzie, all of Las Vegas; and several other family members and friends.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be noon Thursday in the Church of the Lord Jesus, 1260 W. Bartlett Ave. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Roberte J. Miller

Roberte J. Miller, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Cleveland. A resident for 40 years, she was in the real estate business for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Walker; five daughters, Andree Reed, Linda Fields and Brenda Coleman, all of Las Vegas, Susan Silvia of Beaverton, Ore., and Evelyn Cartwright of Henderson; one brother, Daniel Oger of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 2 p.m. services Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Mary S. Nash

Mary S. Nash, 90, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 18, 1908, in Tuxedo, N.Y. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Balint and Betty, both of Clifton, N.J.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. A private burial will follow.

Claudette Ann Neisinger

Claudette Ann Neisinger, 64, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Pahrump. She was born April 20, 1934, in Port Arthur, Texas. A resident for 29 years, she was an acquisition specialist for the North Las Vegas Detention Center and a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by four sons, Billy Holland of Oklahoma, Larry Holland of Missouri, David Neisinger of California and Donald Neisinger of Arizona; three daughters, Debra Neisinger of Utah and Diane Leyerly and Denise Neisinger, both of California; one sister, Jan Alexander of Texas; 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Memorial Park.

Orin D. Nelson

Orin D. Nelson, 47, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 12, 1951, in Rexburg, Idaho. A resident for 10 years, he was a computer programmer at Citigroup.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; three sons, Travis, Derrick and Jared, and two daughters, Amberly and Hope, all of Las Vegas; his father, Marion Nelson of Idaho; five brothers, Gayden, Creig, Roger, Dale and Grant; and four sisters, Marca, Linda, Trudy and Karen.

Visitation is scheduled 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Friday in the New Forest LDS Chapel, 4545 New Forest Drive. Burial will be in Utah.

Albert Plante

Albert Plante, 52, of Las Vegas died March 7 in Henderson. A security guard, he was born May 7, 1946, in Massachusetts.

He is survived by his significant other, John Peckham of Sierra Madre, Calif.; three brothers, Robert Plante and Paul Plante, both of Marlborough, Mass., and Marcel Plante of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Yvonne Whidden of Auburn, Mass., and Odette Luszcz of Ware, Mass.

Services were scheduled 10 a.m. today in the chapel at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Vinnie F. Stewart

Vinnie F. Stewart, 83, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 31, 1915, in Kanab, Utah. A resident for 60 years, she was a longtime PTA worker, a former Girl Scout leader and a longtime volunteer for the March of Dimes and Easter Seals.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald; two daughters, Yvonne Wilson and Connie Rae Close, both of Las Vegas; three sisters, Hazel Trumble of Las Vegas and Phyllis Judd and Athene McAllister, both of Kanab; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11:30 a.m. services Thursday in the Relief Society Room of the LDS 1st Ward (Eighth Street and Franklin Avenue). Debbie Yafchak-Stolo

Debbie Yafchak-Stolo, 34, of Las Vegas died Sunday. She was born March 14, 1965, in Syracuse, N.Y. A resident for 13 years, she was a Circus-Circus MIS specialist and loved riding her horses, Sasha and Sassy.

She is survived by her husband, Gary A. Stolo; her father, Ronald E. Yafchak of Syracuse; her mother, Joan R. Yafchak, one brother, Keith E. Yafchak, and one sister, Lynn M. Mullin, all of Las Vegas; her grandparents, Josephine Felber and Rose and Frank Yafchak, all of Syracuse; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Cecilia Anne Vespia

Cecilia Anne Vespia, 39, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 9, 1960, in California. A resident for 30 years, she was a retail clothing manager.

She is survived by her parents, Charles and Leona Vespia, one brother, Christopher Vespia, and four sisters, Celestina Vespia, Christina Zaidman, Claudina Vespia and Cynthia Vespia, all of Las Vegas.

Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. A private burial will follow. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Wayne Lennie Waltrip

Wayne Lennie Waltrip, 68, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born June 14, 1930, in California.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila; three sons, Michael Waltrip of South Carolina, Kenneth Waltrip of Las Vegas and William Waltrip of Oklahoma; one stepdaughter, Vicki Gonzales, one stepson, Kevin Thompson, both of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren, Wayne, Alyssa, Billy, and Czarina.

Services will be private. Neptune Society of Nevada, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Building 5 is handling arrangements.
