California inmate admits to robbing Las Vegas bank

Tuesday, March 16, 1999 | 10:35 a.m.

Joe Hudson, 41, was serving a prison sentence in California for narcotics and firearms crimes when a federal grand jury in Las Vegas indicted him. He faces three counts of armed bank robbery, three counts of using a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, one count of conspiracy, one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of transferring a firearm to a juvenile.

Authorities say Hudson conspired with a teen-ager to commit bank robberies, providing the teen-ager with a hoax bomb, handgun and disguises.

Hudson has four more years to serve on his California sentence. He was arrested in California on state narcotics and firearms charges in June 1996. The Las Vegas bank robbery charges were from April 1996.

According to court records, Hudson was convicted of first-degree murder in Nevada in June 1976 and was on lifetime parole when the bank robberies occurred.
