Letter: Stores should favor U.S.-made products
Monday, March 15, 1999 | 10:36 a.m.
It seems that there is a ban on only American-made products these days. If stores want to serve Americans, why can't they make the effort to section off a certain area that sells everything made in the U.S.?
That way we could know where to look for what we want. Better yet, some enterprising company would make a fortune by opening a total U.S. store. As for the "story" that all our companies have moved out, I don't buy that. According to the press, this country is still exporting furiously. Our goods are in foreign countries, but we don't have the right to buy them.
Does any other country deprive its citizens the right to buy its home products? I think not.
This is not a patriotic whim. I just want to buy some durable, lasting, well-made, dependable products. I'm tired of junk. Where is our freedom of choice?
