Girl kicks attacker, escapes
Mon, Mar 15, 1999 (10:57 a.m.)
An attempted sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl in Henderson was foiled when the girl kicked her assailant in the groin and escaped Friday afternoon.
Just before 3:30 p.m. the girl was walking home from Estes McDoniel Elementary School past Foxridge Park when a man approached, flashed a handgun and forced the girl to walk to Valle Verde Drive, Henderson Police said.
The suspect forced the girl into a landscape planter and removed the girl's shoes and pants. The girl then kicked the suspect in the groin and ran back toward Foxridge Park where a driver saw her and called police.
"She was talking on the phone with her mom afterwards, and it sounded like her mom had taught her what to do if someone grabbed her," Detective Todd Peters said.
The suspect is described as a white man about 6 feet 1 inch with a thin build, dirty blond hair and a pockmarked face. He also had a tattoo of a blue bird on the inside of his left forearm.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Henderson Police Department at 565-2009 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
