Luisito Evangelista, 69, was initially indicted last month on drug trafficking charges.
A federal grand jury brought several new charges Wednesday.
According to a superseding indictment, Evangelista distributed controlled substances with a street value of $1.5 million. The activity allegedly took place between October 1997 and February 1999. The figure includes about $1 million worth of hydrocodone, a synthetic form of codeine.
The new indictment claims Evangelista traveled between Chicago and Las Vegas several times during the past year to carry out his illegal activity.
