Letter: VA clinic has been helpful, responsive
Thursday, March 11, 1999 | 11:58 a.m.
I have received an answer to every one of my letters.
Local VA Director Ramon Reevey's style of managing is persuasive as opposed to authoritarian. The difficulty lies in the system; it is exceedingly difficult to render a meaningful or disciplinary action upon an employee and almost impossible to discharge one.
If there is a shortage of nurses and doctors, that's endemic to the VA system mostly based on budgetary constraints.
No major surgery is performed at the clinic. The clinic is for outpatient use exclusively. I have appointments at the clinic -- at least one per month -- and have never had to wait more than the allowable half hour.
I have several serious ailments among which are prostate cancer and severe emphysema. I can say without reservation that I have been well treated medically and given courtesy.
I am grateful to my primary care physician, Dr. Bienvenido Reyes and thankful to the director, Mr. Reevey. I am sure Mr. Reevey and his professional staff are always in a quest for improvements where warranted.
