Fishing Report — March 11, 1999

LAKE MEAD: Even though a state record largemouth bass came out of the lake this week, fishing remains poor throughout the lake.
On Monday afternoon Michael Geary of Las Vegas caught a 12-pound bass that bettered the state record by one pound. The fish, caught in the Virgin Basin, was released into the lake after being weighed at Overton Beach Marina.
Anglers are having very little success fishing for striped bass, with only a few fish being caught following weekly trout plants at Hemenway Harbor and the causeway at Pyramid Island. A few small stripers have been caught from shore below the campground at Las Vegas Bay Marina.
