The National Association of Minority Contractors-Southern Nevada will hold its first of a planned annual dinner 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Best Western Mardi Gras, 3500 S. Paradise Road.
The NAMC-Southern Nevada was established last year to address local minority construction contracting issues and concerns. Call 871-0492.
Hebrew High will sponsor program
High school students and their parents are invited to a college night 7 p.m. Monday, sponsored by Hebrew High of the Jewish Federation on Las Vegas.
The free event will be held on the UNLV campus at the Interfaith Center, 4765 Brussels Road. Call 732-0556.
'Cut-a-thon' will help Leukemia Society
Beauty Center will hold a "cut-a-thon" 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at its six store locations to benefit the Leukemia Society of America.
The cut-a-thon will offer customers haircuts at $10 each. For locations, call 891-8895.
Spring Seminar set at Jokers Wild
The Clark County Nevada Genealogical Society will have its annual Spring Seminar 9 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. Saturday at Jokers Wild, 920 N. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
Seminars are open to people interested in doing family history research. Registration and exhibits/sales start at 8:30 a.m. Call 225-5838.
CPR workshop scheduled at Henderson center
A free CPR First-Aid workshop will be offered 1-5 p.m. Saturday at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway, Henderson.
Participants who wish to receive certification will be offered additional instruction for $23. Call 435-3814.
NLV sessions run through May
North Las Vegas Police will host 12 sessions of the Citizens Police Academy from March through May.
The purpose of the academy is to increase understanding between the department and the community through education, Lt. Paul Womack said.
The academy is free but requires a commitment of three hours a week for nine weeks. Classes include demonstrations by SWAT, information on the criminal justice system, crime prevention and investigations.
