Hospital to build addition

Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center on Flamingo Road in Las Vegas announced plans to build a five-story, 100,000-square-foot addition to keep up with local population growth.
Owned by Universal Health Services of King of Prussia, Pa., and Quorum Health Group of Brentwood, Tenn., Desert Springs said it will build patient rooms, a lobby and entrance, an admitting area, an emergency room waiting area, a gift shop, a cafe-style public area and new parking lots.
Desert Springs is part of the Universal-controlled Valley Health Network along with Universal hospitals Valley and Summerlin.
