DJ’s protest ends when demands met — and then some

Officials with Citadel Communications Inc. early Monday granted disc jockey Greg Thomas' demands for a 25 percent pay raise, better hours and more say over music selections at KNHK-FM radio.
During negotiations conducted on the air, they also threw in a $1,000 bonus and a one-year contract.
Station officials offered the same deal to Jake Armer, a former disc jockey at a competing station, who joined Thomas in the control booth late Saturday.
The two will now be a team during morning drive-time hours.
Thomas took over the airwaves during his regular shift Friday afternoon and said he would not leave until his demands were met.
Station officials had threatened to call authorities, but police said the incident appeared to be more of a publicity stunt.
Thomas insisted he was making a stand "for the people who work hard every day ... and feel like they don't get what they deserve."
KNHK, also known as The Hawk, plays rock 'n roll hits and is one of 135 stations owned nationwide by Citadel Communications.
