Miller, who served as Nevada's governor from 1989 through January, fills a new position on the 10-member board of the Dallas-based company.
A company spokesman said the board includes executives with strong skills in managing growth. Miller was selected because of his track record of keeping state taxes low during Nevada's booming growth.
The company spokesman would not disclose Miller's compensation as a board member.
PageNet offers a variety of messaging services, including Internet and two-way interactive messaging. The company plans to introduce customized wireless services for pagers, partnering with content providers like CNN, ESPN, Forbes and AccuWeather to provide news, sports, business and weather information to wireless devices.
