Letter: Helpful young men heroes to elderly
Tuesday, June 29, 1999 | 10:22 a.m.
In the midst of rush-hour traffic at 5 p.m. our vehicle stalled in the center lane at the light, northbound on the Buffalo-Summerlin Parkway overpass. Some neighboring cars honked horns, yelled and gestured their heated displeasure at our predicament.
But these four young people in separate pickups stopped and two of them (their friends drove their vehicles) physically pushed us up the overpass and down into the service station at Washington and Buffalo in the 100-plus degree heat.
In addition to helping us, they wouldn't accept any reward or compensation for their caring other than the sincere appreciation from an elderly couple. These young folks didn't give us their names or phone numbers; they said our thanks was sufficient.
But to us they are heroes. They know who they are. We would like the rest of our town to know as well.
