Three Las Vegas students are being honored by state officials for their artwork encouraging workplace safety.
Nearly 250 entries were received from middle and high school students in the statewide poster contest to show their ideas of a safe or unsafe work environment.
A dozen of the entries were chosen to become part of a workplace safety calendar for 2000. It will be distributed late this year to businesses and families.
Top Las Vegas finishers were Elizabeth Blau of Las Vegas Academy, third place, $100 prize; Jennifer Mancuso, Courtney Middle School, fourth place, $25 prize; and Ben Lim, Las Vegas Academy, eighth place, $25 prize.
The grand prize of $250 went to Jason Simms of Carson High School. Noelia Mendoza of Winnemucca Junior High School and Jessica Willet of Carson High School won $100 prizes as first and second place winners, respectively.
