Letter: Teach children Commandments

The gun laws are the result of deaths during a happening in Littleton, Colo. Two boys brought guns and home-made bombs to school! They killed 12 students and one teacher. The church and state issue is found in a bill proposed to Congress to make certain the Ten Commandments are exposed to children attending public schools.
The idea is both of these suggestions may better the education of our children. It seems some suspect too few youngsters know "right from wrong." Why else would normal underage students bring firearms to school? Or, for that matter, kill their fellow students along with a teacher?
Most of us understand it is wrong to kill people. Why do we feel the act is wrong? One of the Ten Commandments stipulates, "Thou shall not kill!"
We could do no harm to anyone by adhering to the phrase on our legal tender. "In God We Trust." This is quaint, but something people of sound mind have no fear of following.
The Ten Commandments are followed by hundreds of millions of people, be they Jews, Catholics or just plain old Christians.
They are the best kind, you know, because God made so many of us.
