UNLV junior golfer Jeremy Anderson and freshman women's basketball player Linda Froehlich have been named the 1998-99 UNLV Olympic Sports Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year. Anderson was selected by the men's Olympic sports head coaches to receive the honor, while Froehlich was chosen by the UNLV Women's Sports Foundation.
Anderson was named a 1999 first-team All-American and is UNLV golf's first recipient of that honor since 1994.
He won two individual titles this season and was named the WAC Player of the Year.
Anderson led UNLV to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships and led the team with a 72.38 season scoring average.
Anderson was also named a 1998-99 second-team GTE Academic All-American.
Froehlich helped the women's basketball team to an unprecedented turnaround as the squad became the nation's most improved team last season.
Froehlich led all freshman in the country in scoring and was named Freshman of the Year by two national publications.
