Apartment alleges construction defects

The owner of a Las Vegas apartment complex sued developer Robert V. Jones Corp., alleging the complex contains widespread defects, and is "unfit and unsafe for its intended purpose."
Olen Residential Realty Corp. opened Spanish Wells, a 180-unit complex at 5355 S. Rainbow Blvd., in June 1993. Jones was the general contractor, Olen claims.
Olen cited problems with the complex's site, soil stabilization, grading, paying, drainage, driveways, fences, decks, foundations, windows, doors, frames, sewage systems, heating and air conditioning and waterproofing. It claims that Jones deviated from approved construction plans, causing the defects.
Despite those problems, the complex remains occupied, Olen officials said.
An attorney for Jones said he hadn't been served with the lawsuit and couldn't comment.
