Letter: Boxing fans should boycott
Friday, June 18, 1999 | 12:26 p.m.
Can I just tell you that this bull of not selling tickets for the De La Hoya vs. Trinidad fight to the general public makes me lose all respect for the boxing sanctioning bodies and sports in general? If it weren't for the fans, these guys wouldn't be making the money they are. What a way to show the fans their appreciation -- locking them out of a fight except for paying to watch it on TV.
If no one would buy the pay-per-view and boycotted boxing all together, maybe these promoters and HBO would appreciate the fans. But I know that will never happen.
