The Venetian hotel-casino's Grand Canal Shoppes shopping mall planned to open 25 to 30 stores to the public this afternoon, a spokesman said.
The shops passed county building and fire department inspections Tuesday, clearing them for opening, the spokesman said. Approximately 50 of the Shoppes' 70 stores and restaurants will be open by the July 4 weekend, the spokesman said.
The remaining shops will open as they are completed after that, he said. Some could open as late as October, he said.
The public areas of the mall -- featuring a Venice-style canal and gondolas -- were previously approved by inspectors and opened for a public preview last weekend. The Shoppes were originally scheduled to open in mid-May, but have been delayed several times.
The Venetian spokesman said all of the shop and restaurant space has been leased.
