LV gaming company’s profit increases

Wednesday, June 16, 1999 | 11:08 a.m.

American Vantage Co's. of Las Vegas earned $1.2 million, or 8 cents per share, in the company's third fiscal quarter that ended April 30.

That was an improvement from the year-ago quarter, when the company earned $700,000, or 4 cents per share. Revenues also increased, from $2 million in last year's quarter to $2.5 million this year.

Through its third fiscal quarter, all of American Vantage's revenues came from a contract to provide consulting services to the Table Mountain hotel-casino, and Indian gaming property near Fresno, Calif. In May, Table Mountain Tribe terminated the company's contract and stopped making payments. American Vantage said it is reviewing its legal options.

American Vantage also owns worldwide rights to develop and operate WCW Nitro Grill restaurants, and owns a 49 percent interest in the Border Grill restaurant due to open at the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino June 18. The first Nitro Grill opened at the Excalibur hotel-casino in May.

In addition to its gaming and restaurant ventures, American Vantage plans to develop a funeral home and cemetery in North Las Vegas.
