Horse and bike owners in Henderson frustrated with a lack of places to ride are one step closer to having a whole park to themselves.
The Henderson City Council on Tuesday approved the hiring of Poggemeyer Design Group to prepare plans for an equestrian park on the corner of Equestrian Drive and Magic Way Street.
The project will include a horse park for riding, an area for biking as well as hiking and a recreational activities area. Restrooms and a 150- to 200-car parking lot will also be constructed.
In other action the council authorized the Public Works department to begin accepting bids from developers to build a fire station in Green Valley.
Construction on the Green Valley East Fire Station No. 97 at Amador Lane and Horizon Ridge Parkway is expected to begin in September and finish in June 2000 at a cost of $1.3 million.
