Delay requested in development of resort

Wednesday, June 16, 1999 | 11:23 a.m.

The company planning the 2,500-room Grand Plaza hotel-casino on the east side of Koval Lane between Harmon and Rochelle Avenues will ask the Clark County Planning Commission to give it two more years to find financing and finalize plans for the project.

Nightspot Inc. wants to build a 2.56 million square foot, 33-story resort.

Amenities would include a 100,000-square-foot casino, shops, a 2,500-seat showroom, restaurants, sports book, administrative offices and poolside villa guest rooms.

The plan was initially approved June 4, 1998. According to the Planning Department staff report, "The applicant indicates the development of the resort hotel and casino at this site is on-going, and their final development and financing plans are being completed at this time. They are requesting two additional years due to the size of this project."
