Richard Flaherty, an accounting professor at Arizona State University, Tempe, was named dean of the UNLV College of Business.
Flaherty, who has been at ASU since 1978 and was director of the School of Accountancy there from 1988 to 1993, begins his new job July 15.
He also taught at the University of Illinois and Oklahoma State University and co-authored "Intermediate Accounting," a textbook in its sixth edition.
Flaherty replaces Elvin Lashbrooke, who resigned to take a position at Michigan State University in December. The position was filled in the interim by College of Law Dean Richard Morgan.
