Ex-Rebel Daniels changes his mind, pulls out of NBA Draft

Former UNLV guard Greedy Daniels has decided to put his pro career on hold and give college another go as the 6-foot sophomore from New Orleans has informed the NBA he has withdrawn his name from consideration for the June 30 draft in Washington, D.C.

UNLV coach Bill Bayno said Daniels took the action Tuesday and is currently in summer school at UNLV trying to make up the incomplete work from the spring semester. Bayno also believed Daniels will find another school to enroll before the summer session ends in July.

"He's OK," Bayno said of Daniels. "He's just trying to get everything together that he needs to."

Daniels played two years at UNLV, averaging 7.4 points and 3.1 assists this season. However, he decided to transfer in April, then made another decision in early May to put his name into consideration for the NBA Draft.

Daniels has not commented publicly about his decisions. But Bayno said after rethinking his situation, Daniels decided to maintain his amateur status by withdrawing his name. He had until June 23 to do so.

Regardless of where he transfers, Daniels will have to sit out next season per NCAA rules. He will have two years of eligibility remaining. By Steve Carp
