Cher to perform at grand opening

The Venetian is inviting selected guests to a private performance by the entertainer Cher as part of its grand opening this weekend.
But the resort doesn't want any of the 5,000 invitees to review the event, asking that they should "leave your notepad or camera behind and simply enjoy the evening."
Cher's performance is expected to run from 8:30 to 10 p.m. on Saturday in the Venetian Ballroom.
The Venetian had what executives called a "soft opening" of the resort May 4, as many parts of the $1.5 billion hotel-casino were still under construction or hadn't passed county building inspections.
Only a handful of restaurants were available to guests in the first few weeks, while the pool, spa and retail mall weren't open.
