Hotel sued by New York judge

Circus Circus Enterprises Inc. was sued by a New York state judge who claimed he was injured at the Circus Circus hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip during a 1997 visit.

Judge John V. Rogowski, a district court judge in Buffalo, N.Y., claims he tripped and fell on an iron plate in front of Circus Circus in September 1997, causing a "serious and disabling injury" to his shoulder. The injury required hospitalization and surgery, and forced him to take time off from the bench, he alleged. The lawsuit was filed in Clark County District Court.

A hotel spokeswoman acknowledged that Rogowski reported a fall in 1997 to hotel security, but said that he didn't respond to several contact letters sent by Circus Circus and that the company was unaware of his condition after the incident.
